“Prickly Pair” reimagines two popular native-Texan cacti species; Opuntia Engelmanni – prickly pear cacti, and The Cow Tongue – Texas Prickly Pear. The bird cage cacti plays off the color inspiration of some uncaged parakeets (or prickly parakeets!), a bird found in both the wild and the renowned Fort Worth Zoo. The Cow Tongue alludes to Cowtown with its black and white bovine pat- tern. This cacti pair roots itself amongst smaller succulent species in layers of stars at night… deep in the earth of Texas.
