The Foundry District Developers Announce Expansion Plans

One of Fort Worth’s most colorful developments, The Foundry District, is preparing for growth. 

Developer M2G Ventures announced Monday that construction on a new building and additional office space for the district will begin in August.

The building, located at 212 Carroll St. and appropriately dubbed “212 Carroll,” will span 8,000 square feet and have a mid-century modern design, with space for restaurants with patios, office and retail. A public micropark with an outdoor lounge and shaded areas will also be installed. Additionally, 212 Carroll will have a designated area for rideshare drop-off. According to a news release, the building is at 60 percent capacity with 800- to 1,500-square-foot spaces available for lease. Construction will begin in late August, and the building is projected to open on Jan. 1, 2018. 

Along with 212 Carroll, The Foundry District will also add 8,900 square feet to its urban office project, Wheelhouse, which will total 14,200 square feet when finished. The expansion will include workspace, a lounge area and self-service bar. Construction will begin Aug. 15, and the space is expected open on Feb. 1, 2018. According to a news release, the already completed first phase of the building is at full capacity, while its second phase is 40 percent occupied.

New tenants will likely be announced next week, according to M2G Ventures. 

Additionally, Brooklyn-based artist London Kaye will knit a 20-foot yarn installation for the district live on Aug. 19. The event is open to the public, set to take place from 6-10 p.m., and will feature a live DJ, food trucks, drinks and textile artisan pop-ups. The installation will join a collection of other works in the district, including Inspiration Alley, a collection of seven wall murals painted by local artists, and the recently completed ground murals by Fort Worth artist Katie Murray.
